Book presentation BRUNO GIACOMELLI Continuavano a chiamarmi “Jack O’Malley” by Mario Donnini with Bruno Giacomelli

Bruno Giacomelli is one of the most beloved drivers from the fabulous 1970s and 1980s era of Formula One. With 69 Grands Prix to his name and a podium finish in Las Vegas in 1981, he is synonymous with Alfa Romeo, thanks to a sensational pole position at Watkins Glen in 1980 and a starring performance in the United States Grand Prix East, which ended in heartbreak due to a technical failure—at a time when he had outpaced all the top F1 drivers, even lapping the Ferraris of Scheckter and Villeneuve.

But Bruno, as suggested by the nostalgic title of his autobiography written with journalist Mario Donnini, was affectionately nicknamed “Jack O’Malley” by the British during his time in Formula One with McLaren, a testament to the respect the driver from Roncadelle has always enjoyed in the UK. This was also due to his decision to settle in England in the mid-1970s, where he became the most supported driver by Robin Herd, founder of March, with whom he would go on to dominate the European Formula 2 championship in the magical 1978 season.

Formula One, Formula Two, Formula Three, IndyCar, the World Sportscar Championship, the Indy 500, Le Mans… Bruno experienced it all during his career in the sport’s golden era. His colorful, honest, and revealing account of a life in racing offers a wonderful journey into a warm and much-missed world, cherished by true and passionate fans.
