Book presentation – Formula Comics: Fumetti in Pista by Leonardo Guardigli

Originating from an idea by Leonardo Guardigli, and developed in collaboration with the Municipality of Lugo di Romagna and the Baracca Museum, the FORMULA COMICS: FUMETTI IN PISTA project was born — a way to narrate, through comic strips, the lives of some of the most important four-wheel champions, focusing first and foremost on their human and historical sides.

Each of the ten participants was assigned a Formula 1 driver to portray in two pages, with the choice based on both artistic style and a likely/possible affinity with the subject. The project began with an exhibition at the Baracca Museum in Lugo in March 2024, and has since moved on to the following venues: Imola Circuit, Ferrari Museums, and Monza National Circuit, coinciding with major motorsport events of the moment.

The city of Lugo was not chosen by chance as the starting point: it is the birthplace of Francesco Baracca, the renowned First World War “ace of the skies” who adopted the famous prancing horse as the emblem of his regiment — a symbol that, in 1932, was used for the first time by Enzo Ferrari, then a driver in the 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium.
