Presentation of the book Immagini Ritrovate by Gianni Cancellieri
The dean of Italian automotive historians – Gianni Cancellieri – is known and respected for his writings, which over more than six decades have appeared in books, newspapers, magazines, and digital media.
Former editor of Autosprint and later Automondo, in 1977 he became responsible for the motorsport column of La Gazzetta dello Sport and, since 1989, of Ruoteclassiche.
He has published numerous books.
Less well known, however, is his work as a photographer, which he undertook when commissioned by Autosprint magazine to document around thirty motor races held in the 1960s, mostly Formula One Grands Prix and Sports Prototype races.
This publication, the catalogue of a photographic exhibition presented in Brescia, features a selection of over one hundred images of a world of racing that has now disappeared, each accompanied by a caption highlighting details and elements captured in the shot, all contributing to the vivid depiction of competition in those years.
A series of photographs is dedicated to portraits of the drivers, while introductions by Giovanna Calvenzi and Giorgio Terruzzi complete the book.
